Unit Clerk
Your Opportunity:
The successful candidate is responsible for performing clerical tasks and managing patient information supporting patient care activities in a fast-paced Ambulatory Care clinics. The Unit Clerk in EMG, Autonomic and Neuromuscular clinics acts as a central source of information relating to patient activities including patient admissions, Alberta NetCare information, booking appointments, use of connect care to schedule appointments and complete referral work, diagnostic tests, and obtaining patient lists. This position requires considerable telephone communication with patients, physician's offices and other members of the health care team.
Description:
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Additional Required Qualifications:Unit Clerk certificate with practicum component from a recognized post secondary institution is required. Relevant experience will also be considered. Experience with Connect Care is required. Exceptional communication and organizational skills are essential. Previous computer experience with Connect Care, Windows, Microsoft Office, Excel, Alberta Netcare is required. Familiarity with medical terminology is required. Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision and a courteous and pleasant telephone etiquette is required. Ability to push, pull, and lift equipment of up to 30 lbs. . Must be able to sit for prolonged periods and be competent with repetitive computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications:Successfully completed a recognized course in medical terminology is necessary. BLS Certified an asset. 2 years Unit Clerk Experience Experience working within ambulatory settings.
