Your Opportunity:

Working under the general supervision of a Manager, the Unit Clerk will act as the center of communication for a mental health inpatient unit and will be providing clerical and organizational support to staff and physicians. The successful candidate's responsibilities will include, but not limited to, reception, chart preparation and maintenance, processing orders, ordering and maintaining office supplies and data entry. This individual will handle all information in a confidential manner. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Description:

As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Successful completion of a Medical Office Assistant Certificate or Unit Clerk Course from an accredited educational institution. Minimum 1 year experience working in an acute psychiatric inpatient unit within the last 3 years. Comprehensive Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and PowerPoint Computer proficiency with an accurate minimum typing speed of 60 WPM. Working Knowledge of the Alberta Mental Health Act (MHA) as it pertains to the unit clerk role Working Knowledge of the Health Information Act (HIA) and Access to Information Act (AITA) and/or Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP). Strong Interpersonal and conflict resolutions skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and handle competing priorities. Demonstrated initiative, sound judgement and attention to detail/accuracy. Demonstrated accountability for own work. Ability to promote a positive work environment that facilitates the development of high performing teams. Ability to lift, push, and pull less than 20 lbs (ie boxes of paper).

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficiency with Connect Care. NVCI Certification an asset.
