Unit Clerk
Your Opportunity:
The role of the Unit Clerk role is to facilitate the coordination of activity and information on the nursing unit so that the needs of the patient are met in an effective manner. The activity and information may be related to patients, families, and staff, as well as financial and material management. The Unit Clerk is required to perform complex and specialized clerical duties that require extensive knowledge of the department, organization, policies, procedures and standards.
Description:
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Additional Required Qualifications:The successful candidate will have completed a Unit Secretary course or possess equivalent experience, with a solid understanding of medical terminology. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with strong organizational abilities and the capacity to adapt effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Recent experience in a general medicine or nephrology unit is considered an asset. A strong focus on patient and family centered care is an asset.
