Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.

Additional Required Qualifications:

As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit. Unit Clerk certification with practicum component from a recognized post-secondary institution is required. Successfully completed a recognized course in medical terminology is necessary. Exceptional communication and organizational skills are essential. Demonstrated knowledge with Meditech entry is required. Demonstrated knowledge of personal computer applications required (Word, Excel). Willingness to remain current in required educational requirements. Demonstrates clear and interactive communication (verbal and written) with those around.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience in a health care setting serving the public preferred. Scheduling programs in Workforce ESP and ePeople knowledge would be an asset. Unit Clerk experience in the health care system is preferred. Other secretarial training such as filing and typing would be an asset.
