Your Opportunity:

The Undergraduate Nursing Employee (UNE) position provides nursing students with the opportunity to consolidate knowledge and skills obtained through their approved nursing education program while developing competence toward Registered Nurse (RN) practice. The UNE is an unregulated member of the collaborative healthcare team who provides patient- and family-centered care under the supervision of an RN. The specific nursing activities performed and the level of supervision required are determined by patient acuity, complexity, risk, applicable legislation, regulatory standards of supervision, AHS policies, and the assessed competence of the UNE. This position is based in the Pediatric Medical Outpatient Unit (MOU) at the Stollery Children’s Hospital. The Pediatric MOU is a fast-paced ambulatory care environment that is primarily an infusion unit, providing care to children and adolescents across multiple specialty services including Hematology, Oncology, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Rheumatology, and Neurology. Patients may require intravenous therapies, blood products, biologics, hydration, and other supportive treatments. This position is posted as casual; however, to meet Canada Summer Jobs funding requirements, the successful candidate must be available to work up to 30–35 hours per week during the funded period. Please note: This position is partially funded through the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) program. CSJ funding restricts eligibility to applicants aged 15–30 at time of hire who are Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or persons to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.

Description:
