Therapy Assistant
Your Opportunity:
We are looking for casual Therapy Assistants to work under Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy supervision and direction. The incumbent has potential to cover in all inpatient acute care areas including medical, surgical, orthopedics, ICU, neurology and subacute care. Our team provides excellent patient and family centered care, in a collaborative, innovative and supportive workplace. As a member of the Allied Health team, the Therapy Assistant will be adaptable and open to the continuous changes that occur in an acute care setting. As the environment can be challenging and fast-paced, the successful candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work cohesively in an inter-disciplinary setting. Additionally, you will be effective in time management and demonstrate professional initiative. You will also be a critical thinker with the ability to work autonomously, demonstrate compassion and empathy and have a focus on Patient and Family Centered care. This position requires lifting and transferring of patients and equipment. This role offers opportunities for occasional evening and weekend work, along with the chance to mentor and supervise therapy assistant students.
Description:
As a Therapy Assistant, you will work both individually and as part of an interprofessional team under the assignment, monitoring and evaluation of an audiologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, recreation therapist or speech-language pathologist. You will contribute to effective and efficient rehabilitation services including direct and indirect client care across the health care continuum (healthy living, getting better, living with illness and disability, end of life care) for all ages as well as non-client service provision. This role will require you to work effectively with internal and external partners, and display professionalism and strong ethics in both client centered care and participation in care teams. You will demonstrate evidence of reflective thinking and lifelong learning that enhances individual and team competency. You will have opportunities to use your interpersonal and clinical skills in contributing to quality improvement, program planning and student supervision.

Completion of diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training may be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:Completion of diploma from an accredited post-secondary Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience working in acute care or inpatient rehabilitation program.
