The Young Adult Services portfolio is seeking casual Therapy Assistants to work as part of the Young Adult Services Recovery Supports team to support the delivery of recovery-oriented, experiential programming for young adults aged 16–25 who are living with addiction and/or mental health challenges. This role supports the preparation and facilitation of group and individual programming that fosters social, recreational, and life skills development. Working under the direction of the Clinical Lead, the Therapy Assistant contributes to client engagement, reinforces therapeutic goals, and helps create safe, inclusive spaces where participants can build confidence, strengthen community connections, and work toward their recovery goals through engagement in meaningful activities. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Description:

As a Therapy Assistant, you will work both individually and as part of an interprofessional team under the assignment, monitoring and evaluation of an audiologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, recreation therapist or speech-language pathologist. You will contribute to effective and efficient rehabilitation services including direct and indirect client care across the health care continuum (healthy living, getting better, living with illness and disability, end of life care) for all ages as well as non-client service provision. This role will require you to work effectively with internal and external partners, and display professionalism and strong ethics in both client centered care and participation in care teams. You will demonstrate evidence of reflective thinking and lifelong learning that enhances individual and team competency. You will have opportunities to use your interpersonal and clinical skills in contributing to quality improvement, program planning and student supervision.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training may be considered.

Additional Required Qualifications:

A minimum of 1-2 years of experience supporting individuals with mental health and/or addiction challenges, preferably in a community of group-based settings. Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience facilitating or assisting with recreational, life skills, or wellness programming for youth or young adults. Familiarity with recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and person-centered approaches to care.
