Come join our Willow Creek Continuing Care Centre-Long term care team in the recreation department, as a casual Recreation Aide. Under the direction of the Recreation Therapist and under the general supervision of the Site Manager, the team works together to enrich the lives of the residents in long term care by providing the support and assistance implementing recreation activities for residents at the site. Note Willow Creek Continuing Care Centre, long term care-in Claresholm, is 107 km south of Calgary and 80 km North of Lethbridge. Description:
As a Therapy Aide, you will be working both independently and as part of the interdisciplinary team where you will contribute to the effective and efficient delivery of rehabilitation services. Your role may include administrative duties such as ordering supplies, booking clients, tracking attendances, equipment inventory and preparing/cleaning the treatment area. Under the direction of a supervising recreation therapist, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, audiologist, or speech language pathologist, you will prepare and/or apply routine interventions, promote patient (client, resident) healthy living, self-care independence and motivate clients to actively participate in assigned therapy protocols or programs. You may assist with client lifts and transfers, positioning, and basic activities of daily living (ADL) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) within the context of the therapy program.

Completion of Grade 12.
Additional Required Qualifications:Experience in recreation programs for therapeutic recreation. Ability to work as a member of a team and to request and accept direction as required. Effective interpersonal and communication skills with patients/clients, families, visitors and team members. Well-developed time management skills. Ability to handle the physical demands of the position Provides a broad range of individual and group activities that are developed to meet the residents' needs under the guidance of the Recreation Therapist. Example-riding our wheelchair bike to take residents outside in nice weather. Assists residents in getting ready for community outings when off site. Works collaboratively with other staff, families, and volunteers. Assists residents with toileting and personal care as required when off site. Good knowledge of written and oral English. Experience working in a LTC setting. Experience with clients that have dementia. CPR Certification.
Preferred Qualifications:Supportive Pathways or other dementia training is an asset.
