The Team Lead is a key leadership role within the Family Medicine Education Portfolio in the Department of Family Medicine. The Team Lead – Undergraduate Medical Education & Faculty Development Programs reports to the Education Manager, Education Portfolio and is responsible for providing team leadership and oversight of day-to-day operations of the Department's Undergraduate Program (UG), Faculty Development Program (FD), while collaborating with the Residency Program Team Leads and Education Manager. Your effective leadership abilities combined with a strong commitment to operating within a team environment inspires and builds confidence in others. You have a proven ability to foster partnerships and achieve organizational goals in a unionized setting within a large organization. This position is guided by multiple intricate guidelines, and the incumbent must balance significant competing demands, frequently shifting priorities and meet important deadlines. The incumbent must exercise excellent judgment and superior resourcefulness in the performance of daily activities and in the escalation of issues appropriately. Description:
The successful candidate will oversee an important and wide ranged portfolio. This includes managing staff and overseeing the administration of the Family Medicine curriculum in Undergraduate Medical Education of which over 600 students are enrolled annually. You work closely with the Director of Family Medicine Undergraduate Education, family physicians within Calgary and rural southern Alberta communities, and internal partners at the University of Calgary (UofC) and Primary Care Alberta (PCA), to ensure all programs are successful. The Team Lead will be responsible for managing staff which includes recruitment, training, performance management and staff development. They will provide operational support to family medicine courses in UME curriculum, and the 100+ Family Physicians preceptors providing family medicine clinical experiences. Responsibilities include routinely facilitating family medicine as a career choice, preceptor recruitment, review and support of family medicine content in UG curriculum, and development and reporting on key performance indicator measurements of Family Medicine in the UG curriculum, in addition to leading the support for Family Medicine Interest Group activities, annual student engagement events, and operationalization of UofC and PCA policies in your day-to-day work. FD leadership responsibilities including managing the Department's FD programming in partnership with the Director, Faculty Development (identifying themes and potential speakers for routine and ad hoc events). Supporting in person and virtual events (introductions, Q&A support, presentations as needed). They will contribute to the development and implementation of best educational practices and manage student and faculty focused events. In addition, they will oversee and track spending of various budgets and be responsible for fiscally sound operations.

Bachelor's degree, preferably in business, health or public administration. Project Management experience (certificate/diploma preferred). Minimum 3- 5 years in a management role in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity managing teams. Minimum of 3 years’ experience managing budgets. Demonstrated experience in creating/revising procedures. Demonstrated pattern of professional and personal development and a proven track record of success. Strong track record in establishing and maintaining effective and collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Event management and marketing experience and knowledge. Intermediate /advanced level in Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Experienced communicator with excellent verbal, non-verbal and written skills. Strong organizational skills, and a commitment to providing quality work.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated pattern of professional and personal development and a proven track record of success in a leadership role. Strong track record in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Experience cross-cultural communicator with excellent verbal, non-verbal and written English language skills. Strong organizational skills, and a commitment to providing quality work.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Administration, Education or Human Resources. Effective negotiating skills. Strong critical thinking skills and in-depth understanding of the use of evidence-based research results for decision making and curriculum development. E-people experience.
