Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) program. Completion of International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) certification or Canadian Standards Association (CSA) certification.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Sterile Processing Certificate, including successful completion of practicum placement from recognized institution is required. Basic medical terminology required. Must be willing to attend regular training courses related to work duties. Minimum of 1 year of general reprocessing experience required. Minimum of 1 year experience with processing of scopes required. Knowledge and experience with the WHMIS program is necessary. Knowledge in all principles and practices of infection control, decontamination, sterility assurance, quality control, aseptic technique and stock rotation. Ability to be self-motivated and work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to prioritize and organize work to meet clinic flow requirements. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with members of a multi-disciplinary medical team Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently. Work in a noisy, busy and stressful healthcare setting. The successful candidate must be able to: Use chemicals and/or extreme heat to disinfect instruments, many of which are sharp. Use safety precautions to reduce risk to yourself from exposure to burns and infectious diseases. Handle heavy loads routinely. Spend most hours on your feet.

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated attention to details and accuracy. Demonstrated ability to organize work effectively and to deal with frequent interruptions. Strong communication skills. Work in a noisy, busy and stressful healthcare setting.
