Your Opportunity:

Supervisor, Health Information Management, Northern Lights Regional Health Centre, Fort McMurray. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Description:

The Supervisor, Health Information Management (HIM) performs a leadership role in Health Information Management and reports directly to the Manager, Health Information Management. This position is responsible and accountable for providing the direction, team leadership and organization over the activities of the Health Information Management areas within the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre, Fort McMurray, Alberta; in support of the vision, mission and business plan of the organization. The position is responsible and accountable for making unit-level decisions and having direct leadership responsibility for contributing to the achievement of the goals of Health Information Management. The Supervisor, Health Information Management will develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders. The Supervisor, health Information management is also responsible for the: Direct and indirect supervision of the HIM staff by leading and guiding the staff to ensure quality care and services. Resolution of issues related to operations, staffing requirements, scheduling and workflow management and balance. Management of health information/records management (regardless of medium) to ensure availability for patient care, teaching, research, administrative and legal purposes in accordance with HIM standards. Ensuring efficient operations supervision for the area, with a goal of maximizing throughput by streamlining current workflow practices, applying strong management skills and analyzing current practices. Collaborating with other Supervisors in Health Information Management ensuring local service delivery meets HIM standards and strategic priorities.

Required Qualifications:

An undergraduate degree in business or health related discipline. The successful completion of a Health Information Management program certified by the Canadian College of Health Information Management and an active certification credential with the Canadian Health Information Management Association. A minimum of 3-5 years in a management/supervisor capacity ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered. Abilities: Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, influential skills, and client focused orientation and commitment to providing quality services. Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Demonstrated ability to manage change. Ability to manage human, financial and physical resources within an operating environment. Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals within an organization and ideally managing within a unionized sector.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Strong track record in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Effective leadership abilities combined with a strong commitment to operating within a team environment and the ability to motivate and inspire other to achieve common goals. Excellent analytical and decision-making skills. Ability to foster a climate of cooperation amongst, and build solid relationships with public agencies, government, committees and other partners. Ability to organize and manage short and long term plans and projects specific to Health Information Management processes and services. Experience using electronic Health Information systems. Experience implementing and using Health Information Management business transformation strategies through the use of technology.

Preferred Qualifications:

Connect Care (information system) knowledge and skills.
