We have an exciting leadership opportunity in Fort Vermilion Alberta for a supervisor within Food, Linen and Environmental and Services FLES. In this role, you will be responsible for managing site-level operations to ensure the effective delivery of patient food, linen, and environmental services in alignment with AHS and NFLES priorities. This position combines operational leadership, human resource management, quality improvement, workplace health and safety, and financial accountability. Northern Allowance: In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Northern Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $6,300. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. Travel Expense Reimbursement: Permanent and temporary employees working in excess of one (1) year whose work sites are above the 57th parallel are also eligible to receive an annual reimbursement of personal travel expenses to an annual maximum of $1,235. Eligible employees will be reimbursed for the cost of one (1) round trip, per calendar year, to any destination within Alberta. Travel must originate from a community above the 57th parallel to any destination within Alberta and cannot be carried over.
Description:
The Food & Environmental Supervisor provides leadership and coaching while planning and monitoring daily operations for both departments Linen, Food, and Environmental Services. This role includes recruiting, training, and evaluating staff performance. Develops and monitors work routines, work schedules ensuring that they are efficient, fair, and appropriate to the Collective Agreement as well as addressing performance issues through coaching and progressive discipline in collaboration with Human Resources. The Supervisor secures compliance with food safety, reduction of waste, hand hygiene and health regulations, monitors and audits services for quality, and improvement plans. They investigate and respond to patient concerns, promote excellence service and best practices for continuous improvement. Supports implementation of provincial menu(s) and develops and monitors site specific menu items that meet local resident and/or patient requests. This position also ensures general, bio-medical and chemical waste as well as waste recycling is collected ensuring all legislative and regulatory compliance is met. The position is responsible for Pest Control Program within the facility walls. Site Implementation of the waste management program and practices. This position serves as an entry point into operations management and offers opportunities for advancement within NFLES management.

Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a Food Services or Housekeeping management role, ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity. Proven organizational, time-management, and decision-making skills, and a demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development are required. The successful candidate will also possess leadership experience in a either housekeeping or food service-based industry involving hiring, scheduling, and directing work of assigned employees. Proficiency with use of Microsoft Office, including word processing, spreadsheet programs and email is also required for this position.
Additional Required Qualifications:Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Ability to manage human, financial and physical resources within an operating environment. Effective communicator with strong organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:Post-secondary degree, diploma or certificate in Environmental Service or Nutrition or Food Service Management or Food & Beverage Management.
