The Supervisor LES works under the general direction from the Manager LES. The position supports the LES Manager with the planning, leadership and daily operation of Linen and Environmental Services at AHS sites. This position assists the Manager LES in tracking key performance targets, identifies efficiencies and promotes optimal use of resources while making recommendations on current and future services adjustments to staff budgets and service delivery models. The supervisor leads his teams at various sites to ensure patient discharge and isolation cleaning and may oversee equipment cleaning. This position also ensures general, bio-medical and chemical waste as well as waste recycling is collected ensuring all legislative and regulatory compliance is met. The position is responsible and accountable for making unit-level decisions and having direct leadership responsibility for contributing to the achievement of the goals of Linen and Environmental Services. This position assists in monitoring, planning and organization of general laundry/linen demands, setting staffing levels, development of work routines and maintaining accurate records within Linen Services. The supervisor promotes leadership in the identification of housekeeping and linen issues and assists in recommending and implementing solutions to those issues. The Supervisor is also responsible for: Pest Control Program within the facility walls. Site Implementation of the waste management program and practices. Performs Quality Audits to validate adherence to cleaning standards Ensuring Quality Audits are conducted at the specified frequency and that recommendations and follow up actions are taken as necessary. Personal laundry services for LTC residents.

Human Resources Management and Labor Relations Provides leadership to employees consisting of professional and non- professional healthcare groups. Interviews, hires, and recommends discipline of employees as appropriate. Reviews payroll and completes all probationary and annual performance reviews. Develops, evaluates and monitors work routines, work schedules ensuring that they are efficient, fair, and appropriate to the Collective Agreement. Resource Management Ensures staffing patterns are compatible with other site department operations, limiting disruptions to facility operations where feasible. Customer Service Participates in a number of multidisciplinary committees. Conducts business at all times as a professional representative of Linen and Environmental Services Maintains open communications with other key stakeholders/peers within the facility and through the area departments. Operational and Risk Management Meets regularly with clinical customers to maintain sound relationships, review performance, and manage escalated issues. Provides leadership through effective communication, ethical decision making, and commitment to achieving established goals and objectives, ensuring outcome measurements and standards are enforced. Fosters a high quality workplace with strong commitment to quality, process improvement and patient care focus. Monitors service performance utilizing the Quality Audit Program. Ensures the Manager is informed of and aware of significant events and/or activities within the facility. Commits to continually improving health and safety performance through promotion of culture supporting hazard assessment, risk management, incident identification, reporting and correction, and compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and safe work practices.

A minimum of 5 years related experience preferably in health care laundry and environmental services in a supervisory role is required. Proficient computer skills are required. Must be able to function with a high degree of autonomy, demonstrate critical thinking skills and have the ability to motivate and inspire other to achieve common goals. Must have excellent knowledge of all IPC best practices and protocols in regard to all surface cleaning and outbreak management. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Preferred Qualifications:This position works in a health care setting. This position may also work with their counterparts locally and provincially. Travel to the various sites within the portfolio is required on a regular basis and on occasion will attend meetings/conferences in other zones. This position works in an environment that can be stressful and demanding.
