Summer Student – Health Shared Services, Information Technology

Health Shared Services provides vital services to clinical and non-clinical teams across Alberta’s healthcare system to help them deliver timely, high-quality healthcare to patients and families across the province. We work alongside provincial healthcare agencies and corporations, providing expertise, systems and resources related to: Finance, contracting, procurement, supply management, and capital management. Data and analytics, information technology, clinical informatics, and health information management. Human resources, workplace health and safety, health professions, and medical affairs. Privacy, legal, ethics and compliance and internal audit. Within Health Shared Services, the Information Technology team is a very dynamic and driven group who engage in complex, challenging and diverse projects to deliver collective results. Description:
Students will become active contributors within their assigned teams and will receive hands on training and mentorship from experienced IT professionals. While the roles are challenging, they offer meaningful, real-world experience in a dynamic and evolving environment. Students will quickly learn the importance of creativity, adaptability, and versatility while working within a geographically dispersed workforce. Placements focus on delivering technology services, supporting project execution, and contributing to applications and systems that enhance clinical and operational processes. Example roles include, but are not limited to: Junior Help Desk / Customer Support. Junior Web Development. Junior Project Support. Junior Business Analyst Support. Health Information Management Support. Other IT support roles as required.

Currently enrolled in a CO-OP or work experience program in an IT, Science, Engineering, or Business-related field or registered in a related field of study at a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution.
Additional Required Qualifications:Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a professional team environment. Confident and professional communication skills, with strong written, verbal, and presentation abilities. Self-motivated, proactive, and accountable, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, SharePoint, Word, Visio, Teams, Project, and PowerPoint. Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, C, or C#. Additional technical skills in areas such as Power BI, Tableau, SQL, machine learning, data analysis, data analytics, or business intelligence. Strong customer service skills and a commitment to delivering high quality support.
