Required Qualifications:

Completion of master's degree in Speech Language Pathology. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Current Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP) certification is required. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated critical thinking, planning and organizational skills are essential. The qualified candidate will have adult acute care hospital care experience. You will be able to effectively prioritize a mixed caseload of dysphagia and communication disorders. You will have demonstrated a history of learning and have the fundamental skills for assessing and treating patients with dysphagia. Knowledge and experience completing instrumental dysphagia assessments (VFSS) is required. Your quality of work must meet departmental and organizational expectations. Demonstrated clarity in your communication, organization and consistency of ideas, both verbally and written, including clinical documentation, is required. You must be highly motivated, confident and enthusiastic individual with a positive attitude whose work aligns with AHS Values. You must be able to act quickly and decisively using critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Able to utilize strong judgment by analyzing facts, considering the impact, and arriving at a sound conclusion, seeking counsel when appropriate. You can work independently and as a part of the team creating strong, effective interpersonal working relationships with peers and other caregivers. You are a reliable worker who uses time effectively and is able to prioritize and complete assigned tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with the complex medical patient populations (end of life, chronic disease management, post ICU, dementia) is an asset. Instrumental assessment (VFSS) competence is an asset. Please ensure your AHS career profile is comprehensive, which includes your knowledge, experiences and skills. Basic computer skills, and familiarity with Netcare, Connect care other electronic medical records are preferred. You have effective teaching skills that include experience with supporting students.
