This job posting is for a SLP II clinician – the assignments for this position will include the ICAN Centre for Assistive Technology and inpatient Pediatric SLP. The Peds SLP team at the Glenrose values patient and family centered care, empowering caregivers and early access to communication supports. The successful candidate will have a foundational background in AAC with the ability to provide screening, assessment and intervention for low tech tools (at minimum), provide training and education to families, care providers and community supports, demonstrate knowledge of apps and vocabulary sets for functional communication systems. To be successful on the inpatient pediatric unit the candidate should have a good understanding of childhood development, common pediatric assessment tools, multimodal communication supports and speech and language treatment approaches. The caseload could include pediatric brain injury, stroke or developmental delays. Eating, feeding, and swallowing experience (Adult or Pediatric), is not required, but would be an asset.
Description:
As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will provide clinical professional practice both independently and as a part of a collaborative team, which may include external partners. You will be responsible for providing prevention, health promotion, identification, assessment, intervention, and case management. You will participate in the planning, coordination and delivery of rehabilitation services in collaboration with patients/clients, families, healthcare professionals and other partners. Your leadership and interpersonal skills will aid you in supervising students and providing clinical guidance to other staff as appropriate. You will use your clinical expertise to inform ongoing quality improvement, service integration, and program development.

Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA).
Additional Required Qualifications:Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of a pediatric Speech‑Language Pathologist in a clinical setting. Ability to actively engage with children during assessment and treatment, including participating in play‑based, floor‑based, and movement‑based activities. Ability to bend, kneel, squat, sit on the floor, and transition between positions as required to interact at a child’s physical level. Ability to use hands and arms for therapeutic play, demonstration of activities, handling toys/materials, and interacting with children and caregivers. Ability to tolerate periods of standing, walking, and sitting throughout the workday. Ability to meet the physical and functional demands of the position on a regular basis, with or without reasonable accommodation. Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary pediatric healthcare team.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience with Dysphagia assessment and management is an asset.
