Social Worker III
Your Opportunity:
Working collaboratively as a member of the Palliative Care Team within South Zone West corridor, the Social Worker III is involved in providing advanced level bio-psychosocial assessment and intervention with clients and families addressing psychosocial, environmental and instrumental needs along their palliative journey. As a SW III, you will be part of an inter-disciplinary team providing counselling and practical resources to support clients and their families. This may include counselling related to end of life, bereavement and complex grief, addressing client and family stress and conflict resolution, risk assessment, advocacy and consultation. The SW II will have considerable knowledge of financial and community resources, able to provide resource finding, creative problem solving, and appropriate referrals . You must have the ability to provide advanced level consultation with the medical team and clinical advice related to relevant legislative Acts hat significantly impact direct patient care and clinical practice at end of life (e.g. Adult Guardianship Trusteeship Act, Personal Directive Act, Mental Health Act, MAID, etc.) Travel is required throughout South Zone . Position is almost exclusively days. Occasional evenings may occur to facilitate special requests by clients.

As a Social Worker III, you will perform either advanced level assessment and treatment or act as a clinical lead. You will work with or within teams to provide health care services for patients with complex and multidimensional medical, psychosocial, environmental and instrumental needs. You will provide advanced clinical services, consultation to the interprofessional team and patients/families and supervision of students and team members as assigned. You may also act as a clinical lead providing leadership in the planning, development, and delivery of services in a specific area, as well as staff development, quality improvement and evaluation or research activities as identified by the needs of the service area(s).

Master's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
Additional Required Qualifications:Previous experience with grief, loss and bereavement. Minimum 3 years professional Social Work practice.
Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience working in Palliative Care/Oncology is preferred. Preferred 5 years professional social work practice. Authorization to perform Restricted Activity through ACSW is preferred. Knowledge of oncology and/or palliative specific resources considered beneficial.
