Required Qualifications:

Completion of master's degree in Social Work. (equivalent education or experience may be considered). Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Demonstrated experience and cultural competency working with immigrants/refugees. Two to five years’ of clinical social work experience within ambulatory/acute inpatient care, specific to those experiencing communicable disease management. Strong knowledge of local resources, patient & system advocacy to address identified gaps in service and patient needs. Excellent critical thinking, communication written and verbal, problem solving and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple competing demands while addressing the complex and challenging psychosocial circumstances related to TB disease. Ability to work independent; effectively and efficiently with non-English speaking TB clients/families while utilizing Translation Services during patient encounters. Ability to set priorities with considerable initiative/critical judgement required for assisting with legal documents; capacity worksheets, financial assessments. Ability to establish positive long term working relationships with interdisciplinary team members, and a wide variety of community partners and stakeholders. Strong computer program/typing skill (Connect Care, Microsoft Office, Excel, e-Clinician, Meditech, Netcare. Independent with lifting 0-10 lbs. sitting to standing, move clinic supplies & physical assist patients.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of Public Health Act (PHA) & Communicable Disease Regulation within PHA. Expertise with financials (AISH; AB Health Care; Child Allowance; AB Works; Compassionate fee waiver applications; Addiction recovery applications), Housing & Transitional Housing applications (Inner city housing; Housing Support Letters. Working knowledge – PD, Adult Guardianship, Trusteeship; Child Youth & Family Enhancement; Mental Health Act; Protection for Persons in Care Act; Health Information Act.
