Completion of master's degree in Social Work. (equivalent education or experience may be considered). Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
Additional Required Qualifications:Heart & Stroke Foundation (BLS - Health Care Provider Level C) certification required. Experience working in women’s health in an acute care setting within the last 5 years. A minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a social worker. Advanced level clinical intervention and assessment skill in crisis intervention/family therapy, psychotherapy/counselling with individuals, couples and families. Previous exposure to work within a patient-centred, interdisciplinary team of health care professionals. Demonstrated ability to maintain own competence through ongoing self-education and postgraduate training. Ability to communicate clear and understandable directions in a clinical environment to colleagues, patients, and caregivers/families. In-depth knowledge and experience in working with Income Security programs at community/provincial /federal levels (Alberta Works, AISH, CPP). Experience with interventions that align with legislative acts (e.g. PDA, AGTA, CYFEA, MHA, PPCA, and HIA), housing, community resources, financial resources, domestic violence, addictions and counselling. Demonstrated ability to prioritize conflicting demands and ability to work independently with little or no direct supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:Recent clinical experience working in critical care settings (Emergency Department and ICU). Experience working with clinical applications such as SCM, Netcare, IMPAX, Millennium Scheduler, e-Critical, InfoMed. Experience working with software applications such as Outlook, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Experience in the following areas preferred: Crisis counselling interventions, Family interventions, Child Welfare, understanding of Domestic Violence protocol and competencies in loss and grief.
