Social Worker II
Your Opportunity:
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced high-volume environment for an experienced social worker II in the Stollery emergency department. You will be highly skilled in working with children and families and have emergency, crisis interventional and pediatric experience in a tertiary center. The successful candidate will have strong communication skills and can problem solve in a high stress environment. You will have good knowledge of community resources, mental health supports, an understanding of child development, be trauma informed and understand family dynamics. This position requires compassion, cultural sensitivity, indigenous awareness training and advocacy for all families. The successful candidate will serve as an advocate and champion for our patients and their families and will be compassionate and caring with a focus on patient and family-centered care. Ability to prioritize and function within a team setting is crucial. Proven track record for maintaining professional boundaries and practicing within the established policy and procedures of AHS. Will magnify the values and mission statement of AHS and have proven engagement strategies to meet the needs of our children. When required, the successful candidate will provide support to other areas of service within the Stollery Pediatric Social Work Program.
Description:
As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
Additional Required Qualifications:CPR required. Minimum of 2 years in acute care pediatric hospital setting. Ability to work- days/evenings and weekends. Proven ethical and professional judgment. Strong collaboration and communication skills with multidisciplinary teams and community agencies. Indigenous training and cultural awareness completed. Grief and loss therapy and experience. Must be highly skilled in adjustment disorder counselling and crisis management interventions. Must be highly organized with the ability to prioritize. Strong advocacy skills are essential.
Preferred Qualifications:Masters preferred. CBT training an asset. Second language is an asset.
