Your Opportunity:
This is an excellent opportunity to work at the Stollery Children's Hospital and work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team of the Surge Unit. The successful candidate will be well versed in team dynamics, multidisciplinary team rounding, collaboration, teaching and supporting families. The successful candidate will have previous experience in acute care pediatric tertiary hospital setting supporting new onset, maintenance and crisis interventions for chronic conditions. You will be a skilled communicator with well-established community resource supports and networks: schools, community agencies, and government programs. Your strengths-based approach and diversity and inclusion practices will assist the families to reach best outcomes for ongoing health success. You will have a proven track record for maintaining professional boundaries and practicing within the established policy and procedures of AHS. You will magnify the values and mission statement of AHS and have proven engagement strategies to meet the needs of our children. The successful candidate will serve as an advocate and champion for our patients and their families and will be compassionate and caring with a focus on patient and family-centered care. Your skills in communication and resource management will be proven, and your ability to prioritize and function within a team setting is crucial. As this position will serve the Stollery Surge unit, which is open for only part of the year the successful candidate will support other areas of the Stollery Social Work Program including inpatient, ambulatory, emergency and critical care at both the UAH and RAH sites.
Description:
As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
Additional Required Qualifications:Indigenous training and cultural awareness completed. Must be highly skilled in adjustment disorder counselling and crisis management interventions. Ability to work within community systems and to identify resources for best long-term impact and outcomes. Must be highly organized with the ability to prioritize. Strong advocacy skills are essential.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience in Pediatric inpatient, ambulatory, critical care and emergency. Grief and loss therapy experience. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) & Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills and asset. Second language also an asset.
