Required Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Relevant experience working in an emergency department within the last 3 years. Relevant experience working in Mat/Child and NICU units within last 3 years. Recent experience in crisis intervention and working with patients/families facing chronic and/or life-threatening illness required. Strong understanding of trauma-informed care principles and crisis intervention techniques. Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification required. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with members of the interdisciplinary team, patients and families in a dynamic health care setting. Demonstrated problem solving, critical thinking and conflict resolution skills. Excellent organizational and time management skills to efficiently organize and prioritize workload to keep pace in a busy multi-disciplinary patient care. Demonstrates behaviours consistent with the values of AHS – Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence, and Safety. Experience working with diverse communities, groups and/or organizations (i.e. ethno-cultural, equity-setting, racialized, faith-based, LGBTQ2S+, vulnerable, marginalized, persons with disabilities, and persons across all age groups, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum 2 years experience as a Social Worker in an acute care setting is an asset. Previous Connect Care training an asset. Training in motivational interviewing is an asset.
