Required Qualifications:

Completion of diploma in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 years’ experience supporting families of children with a neurodevelopmental and/or medical disorder. Familiarity with the impact a child’s developmental challenges may have on family dynamics. Familiarity with a variety of community supports available for children and their families to support ongoing development, health and well-being. Sound working knowledge and familiarity with government programs that support children and families (e.g. Program Unit Funding, Family Supports for Children with Disabilities, NHIB, AISH). Demonstrated ability to provide both one to one and group support to families. Excellent time management, problem solving and prioritization skills. Demonstrated level of comfort with domestic violence and child maltreatment disclosure.

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a pediatric multi-disciplinary setting. Completion of non-violent crisis intervention. Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to family centered care as reflected in practice. Education, through courses or workshops, in dealing with people in crisis situations.
