Your Opportunity:

Brooks is a city located on the Trans-Canada Highway and the Canadian Pacific Railway, approximately 186 km southeast of Calgary, and 110 km northwest of Medicine Hat. The Brooks Health Centre provides health services to over 15,000 residents. It offers a combination of medical, surgical, pediatric, psychiatric, and palliative care services. Staff collaborate with the healthy living program, mental health, addictions as well as visiting surgeons and other disciplines both in-person and virtually to augment services. Bassano is a town located on the Trans-Canada Highway approximately 140 km east of Calgary and 160 km northwest of Medicine Hat. It is also on the main line of the Canadian Pacific Railway. The Bassano Health Centre provides a range of healthcare services including a 24/7 emergency department to a population of approximately 1200 residents. The Site Manager provides manager coverage for both Brooks and Bassano Health Centres, and is accountable for the delivery of high quality, accessible, sustainable, patient and family-focused care. The site manager has direct managerial accountability for the majority of clinical operations employees working at both sites. The Site Manager is accountable for, in conjunction with the Director, Rural Sites, setting and executing on strategic and operational priorities for the rural site. This includes developing and implementing site-based plans, ensuring the effective deployment of resources, and fostering a culture of continuous quality improvement. This position is supported by three (3) Assistant Head Nurses, and a part-time administrative assistant.


Lead the clinical operations of the Brooks and Bassano Health Centres in conjunction with the Rural Director, inform the development of the site operational plan and operational priorities. Ensure the effective deployment of human resources, and create a safe, healthy and inclusive workplace where employees and physicians can reach their full potential. Ensure the appropriate allocation of fiscal and capital resources across the area of accountability, and manage and report on the operating budget, including budget forecasting and expenditure monitoring in accordance with established AHS policies and practices. Foster a culture of continuous quality improvement to ensure the ongoing evolution of high-quality healthcare. Using effective change management practices, manage initiatives to improve the overall clinical operations. Provide site management for the site through both managerial and cross-functional accountabilities and authorities, act as the primary point of management for issues that relate specifically to the site (e.g. capital improvement, patient flow). Ensure optimal use of human, financial and capital resources to achieve operational efficiencies relating to the greater site (e.g. capital planning, equipment planning, and service planning).Pursue quality and innovative initiatives that optimize the day-to-day functioning of the site through standardization and implementation of best practices. Maintain strong working relationships with key leaders and stakeholders to provide operational and interdepartmental leadership that integrates the site as a whole. Manage relationships with operational partners (e.g. civic representatives, Emergency Services, post-secondary institutions/programs, funeral homes, etc.).

Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 year post secondary program Registered with the applicable Alberta Regulated Health Profession.

Preferred Qualifications:

5 to 8 years progressive experience in a health care environment in a site management, patient flow or bed utilization role in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity. Related Bachelors' Degree. Clear pattern of professional and personal development. Understanding of the applicable Long Term Care Standards Knowledge of CoACT.
