Service Worker II
Your Opportunity:
As a Service Worker II - Anesthesia Aide, you will provide a wide range of services that directly impact patient care. You will be part of the Anesthesia Services multidisciplinary team responsible to ensure that specialized anesthesia equipment used in the OR is cleaned and maintained according to manufacturer and AHS infection prevention and control standards. Other duties include set up of equipment and supplies in the operating theaters, traveling to other departments at CRH that Anesthesia Services supports to transport equipment and stock anesthesia supplies on a daily basis. You will work under the general direction and limited supervision of the Respiratory Therapist II in the OR, while being accountable for successfully managing your own daily duties and competing priorities. Additionally, you must be capable of lifting up to 10 kg, bending as required, and pushing and pulling loaded carts and anesthetic machines. The current rotation for this position includes 3.57/hour evening shifts (1615-1949 hrs) Monday through Friday.
Description:
As a Service Worker II, you will be responsible for readying supplies, and cleaning/disinfecting instruments and specialty equipment for immediate use/reuse by healthcare staff. You will distribute and replenish patient care supplies, perform quality control tests on equipment and record maintenance data. You may also transport patients (clients/residents), equipment, lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required. In addition, you will ensure that patient care areas and other assigned areas are accurately stocked and that specialty equipment required by the healthcare staff is available.

Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Proficiency in English communication (spoken and written) are required to effectively collaborate in this diverse, multidisciplinary team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience working in an operating room. Detailed knowledge of medical supplies and equipment. Knowledge and application of WHMIS.
