Your Opportunity:

Under the supervision of the Unit Manager, the Service Worker I (SW) is an integral member of the health care team responsible for providing patients with a safe, clean, and supportive environment. The SW transports patients (clients/residents), equipment, laboratory specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts to and from various patient care areas within the hospital site. The SW utilizes judgment in the execution and prioritization of general housekeeping duties, linen and waste handling, ordering, distributing, and replenishing hospital supplies throughout the units, and cleaning equipment, stretchers, and patient care areas as directed. The SW must be familiar with and adhere to Universal Precautions and established infection prevention and control practices. The SW assists patients with general requests, reports concerns regarding supplies, equipment, and safety issues to the Unit Manager or designate, and supports Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) practices, including cleaning equipment for repair and completing appropriate requisitions. The SW performs other related duties as required or delegated and must be able to safely lift and handle weights of up to 50 lbs.

You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required.
