Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Patient Care Manager, the Service Worker I in the Portering Department at the Glenrose is a key position to ensuring patient transport needs in the building are being met. In addition to transporting patients at the Glenrose site, frequent trips to the Royal Alexandra Hospital are required. The transport of equipment, lab work and medications from pharmacy are also important components of the role.

Description:

As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients (clients/residents) and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site. You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

Grade 12 or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Position requires the physical ability to walk and stand for long periods of time as well as push and pull beds, stretchers, and wheelchairs. Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous portering or patient care experience preferred.
