Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Unit Manager of the Women’s Health clinic, this position contributes to the effective and efficient operation of the Women’s Health Clinic by performing a variety of duties related to the internal operations of the Therapeutic Abortion Clinic located at Peter Lougheed Center. This position is responsible for: Monitoring, ordering, maintaining and stocking of inventory. Restocking of procedure room, and set up and take down between cases with linens, supplies, and equipment. Transporting lab specimens as assigned. Liaise with Medical Device Reprocessing Department as necessary. Cleaning soiled equipment and instruments. Cleaning procedure rooms, disposing of products. Delivering items to shipping and receiving as necessary. Reporting any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to management.

Description:

As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients (clients/residents) and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site. You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

Grade 12 or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Must be physically capable of performing all aspects of the position including: Walking and standing for long periods of time (over 1 hour consecutively). Lifting up to 50 LB and pushing/pulling loaded carts. Reaching above shoulder height and bending below waist level. Excellent communication skills. Proven ability to work independently, prioritize, critically think, and balance competing demands. Demonstrated ability to manage wellness at work. Ability to work in a high paced, challenging, diverse environment. Ability to provide respectful, compassionate, and safe care for patients choosing termination of pregnancy, and act in the best interest of the patients regardless of personal, moral, and religious beliefs.

Preferred Qualifications:

3 years experience working as a service worker in an acute care environment.
