Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Current Alberta Heart & Stroke BLS Provider is required. Must be able to read, write, and communicate fluently in the English language. The incumbent must be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and manage a fast paced, demanding environment that has shifting daily priorities. Due to the nature of the physically demanding duties, the incumbent must be able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team while maintaining confidential information. Must be reliable, cooperative, and demonstrate a high level of flexibility. Previous training and experience working in an operating room is essential. Knowledge and experience working with routine and additional infection prevention precautions. Previous knowledge and application of WHMIS is required. The successful candidate will provide support within the Operative Services ATC, including the operating theatres and the recovery room. Primary responsibilities include patient transportation, restocking of the operating room support areas, and the safe handling of medical equipment and sterile products. Duties of the Service Worker I in the ATC Surgical Suite include but are not limited to: Transporting patients to and from the department both before and after surgery.
Preferred Qualifications:Preference will be given to those applicants that have experience and knowledge of transporting patients and cleaning/restocking of hospital equipment and supplies. Knowledge of body mechanics is an asset along with a true interest in health care and the desire to help others.
