Your Opportunity:

The primary purpose of the Senior Quality Assurance Strategist - EHS OPS/Dispatch & Communication is overseeing (planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation) divisional and provincial comprehensive initiatives and projects within EHS Dispatch, Communications and Deployment related to quality management and improvement, accreditation, risk management, patient safety, research, policy development, audit and utilization management, in collaboration with Acute Care Alberta and EHS stakeholders. This position contributes to the EHS mandate of providing quality out-of-hospital patient care by leading or facilitating clinical and quality related initiatives to inform evidence-based decision making and improve EHS dispatch and communications which ultimately affects patient care within Alberta. The position has a provincial portfolio, which presents unique challenges due to the virtual work environment. The position reports to EHS Clinical Practice but is also accountable to EHS Dispatch, Communications and Deployment. EHS Clinical Practice has a unique working relationship with Alberta Health, contractors and multiple partner areas within the broader organization, in the planning, development and implementation of provincial medical protocols and other innovative and novel initiatives.

Description:

Internal consultation and leadership providing oversight to clinical and organizational quality assurance and quality improvement, risk management, data analysis, interpretation, and reporting (e.g. compliance audit, clinical case reviews) related to EHS Dispatch, Communications and Deployment. Project coordinator to design, develop, implement, and evaluate EHS Dispatch, Communications and Deployment quality improvement initiatives inclusive of researching and interpreting the professional literature, creation of evidence-based reports/presentations, and facilitating the transfer of knowledge (e.g. using evidence-based research for the development of provincial dispatch initiatives). Clinically Serious Adverse Event management and Section 9 protected Quality Assurance Reviews. Reporting and Learning System management for EHS Dispatch, Communication and Deployment. Leadership and guidance for a variety of zone and provincial functional and cross-functional teams (e.g. Quality, Safety and Accreditation Management teams, Provincial Medical Dispatch Review Steering Committee etc.).

Required Qualifications:

Requires an undergraduate degree (or higher) and a minimum of four years of related health experience with a solid track record of achievement in organizing quality improvement and risk management initiatives, policy development, and the use of research principles to inform evidence-based decision making. Clinical background and understanding is imperative to this position in order to provide context for the breadth and scope of pre-hospital medical care in Alberta generally gained through completion of specialized training at an accredited institution. Formal training provides the foundation for developing critical and strategic thinking, superior writing and verbal communication skills, conducting statistical analysis and research design, solving organizational problems, and effectively managing a wide variety of organizational projects and targeted initiatives. Experience working in and understanding of the EHS Dispatch, Communication and Deployment system is essential.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Provincial travel is required to meet with partners across the province. Must be able to listen and review audio recordings of actual events. Must have the appropriate leadership and networking skills to influence leaders and staff they don't actually have supervisory authority over.


Preferred Qualifications:

Specialized certification, such as a Diploma in Quality Management, is desirable.
