Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager North Region, the Senior Project Manager is responsible to manage projects and project teams through the project management life cycle. This includes architecture and planning, implementation, project close-out and transition to operations. The incumbent represents IT as a single point of contact on assigned AB Infrastructure and Capital Management projects for new buildings, renovations and major staff relocations. Leads, Co-ordinates and Monitors small, medium and large IT Facility projects. Leads several projects concurrently – IT Facility Portfolio usually holds a float of between 150 and 200 projects, with a team of 20. Co-ordinates the activities of project team: Identifies resources needed, secures project resources by following the approved intake processes. Works cohesively with assigned resources to validate project requirements, solicit feedback on best practices and coordinate activities between resource team, project sponsors and user groups. Develops work plans and schedules and monitors assigned IT project resources to remain on schedule, retain project scope and remain within budget allotments.

Description:

This senior-level IT Project Manager role is responsible for leading complex, multi-phase IT projects— often spanning multiple portfolios or interdependent initiatives—with a focus on facility construction and renovation. The incumbent will apply deep expertise across internal IT disciplines to deliver innovative, strategic and standardized business-aligned solutions. Oversees all project deliverables including proposals, change requests, budgets, forecasts, financial reports and resource plans. A key aspect of the role is monitoring project progress against established standards and proactively identifying and resolving risks and issues. Acts as the primary liaison for IT between internal stakeholders (IT Directors, Business Sponsors, Capital Management, Program Managers) and external partners (AB Infrastructure, government agencies and vendors). Strong relationship management skills are essential, as the role represents the organization’s interests to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. The Senior Project Manager also collaborates with peers to manage project interdependencies and ensure alignment across initiatives. Vendor management is a critical component, ensuring third-party contributions meet contractual obligations and project expectations. Provides leadership to project teams, mentoring and supervising staff to maintain high performance, morale and contributes positively to the IT Facility team culture. Demonstrates strong knowledge of facility project workflows and requirements, ensuring IT solutions are tailored to the unique needs of construction and renovation environments.

Required Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree or IT Polytechnic Certificate. A minimum of 7 years of advanced level project experience working in an IT environment. Advanced knowledge of project management principles, tools and methodologies. Comfortable working in all areas of a health care facility.

Preferred Qualifications:

Project Management Professional designation. ITIL. PROSCI Change Management. Demonstrated ongoing personal development and growth through coursework. Construction knowledge is an asset.
