Senior Project Manager - IT
Your Opportunity:
You are a highly motivated, tech-savvy senior project manager who is client-focused and committed to making a difference to the AHS organization and the larger health care system. You are conscientious and detail oriented, able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with Clinical and IT stakeholders to understand the nature of their work and deliver complex IT projects. In the role of a senior project manager in AHS IT, you will be joining the Clinical Services Projects team supporting IT initiatives that will transform the delivery of healthcare for all Albertans. Applying your relationship building, communication, documentation and project management skills, you will work closely with and connect various teams within and outside of AHS to successfully deliver Clinical IT projects.
Description:
The position is responsible for the inception, design, implementation, and closure of major Clinical Projects and Programs in the Clinical Services (CS) portfolio. Clinical Projects are provincial in nature and involve multiple stakeholders across AHS and the healthcare system. The Senior Project Manager provides high-level leadership within the project to deliver the business benefits required. This involves managing projects with tangible deliverables and benefits that have a significant level of interdependency, strategic importance and risk for AHS. The Senior Project Manager is required to solve highly complex problems and develop new solutions where existing precedent does not exist. The Senior Project Manager investigates to understand the scope and scale of the problem and, using their expertise, develops a plan to address the issue. The Senior Project Manager takes into account a significant number of factors in determining what the plan should be which includes: overall project schedule, multiple dependent schedules, possible or actual risks, resource requirements, costs, etc. The Senior Project Manager develops and leads the implementation of complex project plans, and delegates and directs work accordingly.

Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Engineering or a related discipline plus 7 to 10+ years of project management experience in a large and complex IT environment.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Deep knowledge of project management principles, PMO tools and methodologies, and project governance concepts. Extensive experience leading large sized project teams. Experience working in a complex matrixed organization. Expertise with MS Project, MS Office suite and Visio. Experience using Agile methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
Healthcare knowledge and experience preferred. Project Management Certification (PMP or equivalent).
