Graduate Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related health care field. Minimum 3 years’ proven leadership experience. Minimum 3 years’ experience working with Indigenous communities and/or organizations in a professional capacity. Minimum 3 years of direct clinical experience in addiction and mental health and/or a variety of healthcare settings (e.g., urgent/emergent, acute, community). Expert knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite products (e.g. Word, Excel).
Additional Required Qualifications:As a bona fide occupational requirement, and under Section 11 of the Alberta Human Rights Act, only Indigenous applicants will be considered. We encourage Indigenous candidates to self-identify. Knowledge of North Zone Indigenous communities and experience in local Indigenous culture. Good understanding of the geographical challenges in accessing certain services such mental health resources, internet and phone. Broad knowledge of Indigenous history and cultures within Alberta. High degree of cultural competence as it relates to working with Indigenous people. Understand the political sensitive nature of working with multiple culturally diverse individuals and groups Training in trauma-informed practice. Knowledge in the utilization of educational platforms. Ability to prioritize tasks, meet established deadlines and escalate issues for resolution. Knowledge of the complexities of the AHS organization, federal and provincial Indigenous health care systems including community settings.
Preferred Qualifications:Active registration with professional affiliation is strongly recommended. Equivalencies of Indigenous knowledge and experience will be considered. Indigenous formal education is preferred (e.g., Indigenous Social Work). Ability to speak or understand an Indigenous language spoken in Treaty 6, Treaty 7, Treaty 8 territory or Metis Settlement, preferably a northern Alberta Indigenous languages such as Beaver, Cree, Dene, Michif or Inuktitut. Teletriage / contact centre experience an asset.
