BAS is committed to delivering timely, relevant financial expertise grounded in service excellence.Reporting to the Manager, Business Advisory Services, this position supports Assisted Living Alberta (ALA), Alberta’s provincial assisted living agency and a key pillar in the province’s refocused health care system. ALA is responsible for strengthening the delivery of integrated health care and continuing care services to improve access, coordination, and outcomes for Albertans. Within this context, the Senior Financial Analyst works closely with program areas to provide financial insight, analysis, and decision support that advances organizational priorities. The role applies established accounting standards, policies, and internal controls while supporting consistent financial understanding across the organization. It also contributes to continuous improvement in financial processes, reporting, and decision support tools. This position is eligible to work remotely within Alberta. Description:
As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will coordinate and/or prepare complex financial and statistical analysis and reports, along with providing interpretation of analyses and reports to support business and external requirements. Your work will be focused on budgets, forecasting, recommendations for program and/or cost efficiencies and development or enhancements to processes and controls. In addition, you will coordinate and monitor progress of financial projects, as well as coach and guide other department staff such as Financial Analysts.

Post secondary degree specializing in accounting or related field (e.g. economics, statistics).
Additional Required Qualifications:The successful candidate will have a minimum of five (5) years of progressive accounting, financial analysis, or financial management experience and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. They will demonstrate strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to interpret complex financial information, identify risks and opportunities, and provide well-supported recommendations. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills are required, including the ability to communicate financial information clearly to diverse audiences and build effective working relationships. The successful candidate will be self-directed, able to work independently with minimal supervision, exercise sound judgment, manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and apply a strategic, systems-thinking approach. Strong organizational skills, adaptability, and the ability to contribute effectively as part of a collaborative team are essential.
Preferred Qualifications:Candidates holding a professional accounting designation or an MBA are preferred. Experience in health care or the public sector is highly desirable, as is experience providing financial advice and decision support to senior leaders. Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and reporting is considered an asset. Experience leading process improvement initiatives, developing financial models or business cases, or coaching colleagues in financial processes is also an asset.
