Senior Financial Analyst
Your Opportunity:
The Debt and Investments team is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst (SFA) for a full-time position. The successful candidate will utilize superior proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including spreadsheets, word processing, and graphs on an ongoing basis. They will interpret accounting standards, prepare accounting memos, document decisions and to contribute to briefing notes. The SFA will be responsible for the consolidation of subsidiary organizations investments including booking adjustments related to IFRS to PSAS differences and for preparing complex investment accounting adjustments for accumulated remeasurement gains and losses. The role is directly involved with the annual year end external audit and will prepare support for financial statement notes as well as respond to external auditor queries. The regular responsibilities include preparation of JE’s, variance analysis, financial analysis and account reconciliations required to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial statement information. The candidate will possess excellent and effective verbal and written communication skills in addition to superior analytical ability. Also, they will demonstrate strong time management skills, be well organized, able to meet deadlines, exhibit attention to detail, innovation, initiative, and creativity. Desire for ongoing professional development to continually develop skills and keep current in accounting and business knowledge.
Description:
As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will coordinate and/or prepare complex financial and statistical analysis and reports, along with providing interpretation of analyses and reports to support business and external requirements. Your work will be focused on budgets, forecasting, recommendations for program and/or cost efficiencies and development or enhancements to processes and controls. In addition, you will coordinate and monitor progress of financial projects, as well as coach and guide other department staff such as Financial Analysts.

Post secondary degree specializing in accounting or related field (e.g. economics, statistics).
Additional Required Qualifications:High degree of proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications. High degree of proficiency in the use of Oracle or comparable computerized accounting systems.
Preferred Qualifications:Accounting Designation (CPA – CA, CMA, CGA). Experience with accounting for long term debt, investments, pension funds and financial statement note preparation.
