Your Opportunity:

The System Strategy & Clinical Excellence (SS&CE) Team is a newly established, provincially focused team within Alberta Health Services that supports clinical operations in delivering high‑quality, safe, and sustainable care for Albertans. The SS&CE Team brings together three integrated functions: the Clinical Operations Response Team (COR‑Team), the Optimization Team, and the Performance Reporting & Operational Review Team. Together, these teams provide rapid operational support, data‑driven performance improvement, and leadership for system‑level strategic initiatives. The Clinical Operations Response Team is hiring a Senior Consultant to support key organizational priorities, including improving emergency department and surgical access, strengthening acute care capacity and patient flow, advancing clinical excellence, and supporting the implementation of large‑scale system strategies such as Hospital Based Leadership. As a Senior Consultant, you will work across a diverse portfolio that includes rapid issue analysis and response, implementation of priority initiatives, performance review and operational planning, and engagement with site and provincial leadership. As this is a provincial team, the position’s location is negotiable and may be eligible for a remote or hybrid work arrangement. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to system transformation at a critical time in Alberta’s healthcare system.

Description:

The Senior Consultant plays a key leadership role in supporting system strategy and clinical excellence. Reporting to the Director of the Clinical Operations Response Team, the Senior Consultant provides expert support to operational leaders and multidisciplinary partners on both rapid response issues and longer‑term strategic initiatives. The role supports initiatives related to emergency department and surgical access, acute care capacity and flow, clinical operations optimization, and performance improvement. The Senior Consultant leads and supports the planning, implementation, and monitoring of initiatives of varying scope and complexity. This includes conducting data‑driven analysis, identifying risks and issues, escalating concerns, and developing recommendations for senior and executive leadership. The role requires strong project, change, communication, and stakeholder engagement and management capabilities, as well as the ability to work effectively in fast‑paced, high‑pressure environments. The Senior Consultant works independently and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including site leaders, clinicians, corporate services, and executive teams. The role requires flexibility, strong judgment, and advanced system‑level thinking to support decision‑making in complex healthcare environments. Provincial travel within Alberta may be required. Other duties will be assigned as required.
