The Acute Care Alberta (ACA) Provincial Women’s Health Program focuses on healthcare provided in acute care and the intersection across the continuum of care and lifespan, in the areas of chronic conditions & cancers, gynecological surgical services, hormonal health, Indigenous health, mental health, prevention, reproductive health, and sexual health. The Program is an exciting new and evolving area with a diverse, innovative and collaborative team. Reporting to the Senior Program Lead, the Senior Consultant leads provincial development, implementation and evaluation of processes and actions to improve access, consistency, outcomes and value of health care delivery in AB. The Senior Consultant understands the provincial system and uses their expertise in coordination with other partners to improve patient outcomes and value. They work with a high degree of independence in collaboration with the Women’s Health team, Zone clinical and operational leads, and patient and family advisors. Leading functional teams or complex initiatives, the role provides coaching and mentorship in practice change to support high-quality, evidence-informed care. The incumbent will utilize organizational approaches for improvement and innovation, and provide quality improvement, change implementation, and project management skills to ensure initiatives are delivered with sustainable integration into operations. They provide leadership that ensures activities are delivered within scope, cost, time, and quality. They will identify, coordinate, and implement effective practices to support the evolving needs of women’s health.
Description:
The Senior Consultant will: gather, analyze, synthesize and where necessary coordinate leading practices, quantitative and qualitative data to inform recommendations leading to the development of provincial strategic plans and new approaches to care delivery. Work with ACA Provincial Women’s Health team to complete functions to support direction, implementation and evaluation of complex projects, capability assessment, mining for innovation and program committee requirements, as required. Lead, develop and implement innovative approaches to sustaining practice improvements while working closely with clinical operational leads and staff to address system issues with sustainable solutions that align with ACA priorities. Guide evaluation of program activities and development performance measures/targets in concert with others. Carry out the quality and planning related functions identified by the ACA Provincial Women’s Health priority initiatives. Collaborate with appropriate Health Service Delivery Organization (this includes AHS, Covenant Health, Chartered Surgical Facilities and Lamont Health) to coordinate access to available services. Work closely with stakeholders across the continuum including ambulatory care and rehabilitation as needed. Direct and share advanced analytics related to clinical performance metrics with a view to providing advice and guidance to senior operational and clinical leaders. Provide project management support. Produce ad hoc deliverables as required.

A post-secondary degree with experience that aligns with the content area of the program (e.g., nursing, nutrition, occupational therapy, epidemiology). Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered. Extensive knowledge of the health system and a minimum of 5 years' experience leading and implementing provincial or multi-zone initiatives. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Collaborative team player who has experience in developing strong working relationships and partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders. Experience overseeing multiple concurrent projects and managing competing timelines. Understands the complexities and inter-relationships between health service delivery organizations and sectors across the continuum within a Learning Health System. Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, influencing skills, patient focused orientation and commitment to providing quality services; ability to relay or explain complex issues or difficult situations. Ability to handle complex issues and difficult situations. Proven abilities in negotiation, facilitation, conflict resolution, and project management are required. Demonstrated ability to lead change and influence decision-making through the synthesis and interpretation of data and evidence. This position will be part of Acute Care Alberta effective April 1, 2025. Preferred Qualifications:
Formal training in change management, quality improvement, implementation science, engagement, project management. Bachelor's degree, master’s degree optional.
