Required Qualifications:

Master’s-level education with a strong quantitative component in a related field, e.g., community health sciences, health economics, biomedical statistics, epidemiology, quality assurance, or several years of equivalent experience. Minimum 3 years’ related experience, preferably in a healthcare environment. Minimum 5 years’ experience working with spreadsheets and databases and tools for querying, integrating, analyzing, reporting and disseminating data. Minimum 5 years’ experience in the application of information technology, database design and information management. Demonstrated Oracle SQL or other comparable database query and report writing experience. Knowledge and ability to produce a variety of descriptive, inferential and predictive statistics. Proficiency in English, with strong verbal and written communication skills capable of producing reports for audiences with different backgrounds and areas of expertise. Excellent interpersonal relationship building skills and a demonstrated ability and interest to work with others effectively in teams. Demonstrated high level of organizational skills and collaboration is required.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Ability to understand clinical issues, and to communicate effectively with a broad variety of people at different levels within the organization and with different skills and expertise. Experience in cleaning, linking, creating, modifying and analyzing datasets in a statistical or database-management software package. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite tools (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Visio, Access) and the ability to become proficient with new software packages. Must abide by the highest standards of confidentiality and have a sound understanding of the principles within Alberta’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, as well as the Health Information Act. Broad understanding of health systems and health system information systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

Connect Care (EPIC) software reporting proficiency or experience with the Connect Care clinical information system preferred. Experience with AHS administrative and clinical datasets preferred. Experience presenting data using visualization tools such as Tableau and statistical software applications is beneficial. Experience working with teams that are geographically separated is beneficial.
