Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager, Performance Measurement - Knowledge, Performance and Integrated Planning, the Senior Analyst provides analysis, information, interpretation and reports in response to complex queries regarding program evaluation, continuous quality improvement, measurement, research, and performance measurement pertaining to the addiction and mental health programs and services. The Senior Analyst provides consultation and collaborates with multiple stakeholders across the province both internal to AHS (e.g., Addiction and Mental Health portfolio, Strategic Clinical Networks - SCNs, Analytics, IT, quality improvement , knowledge management, research and innovation, Zones, population & public health, privacy, etc.) and external to AHS (e.g., Alberta Health - AH, physicians, academic partners) to fully understand and define the requested query/information. The Senior Analyst determines the appropriate analytic/statistical methodology, data types and sources to use, completes the analysis (both descriptive statistics and more advanced statistical analyses including inferential and predictive statistics), provides interpretations and recommendations, and presents the findings/information in the format requested (reports, oral presentations, etc). Consults with legal representatives and privacy officers and adheres to AHS legal and privacy processes and regulations. The data and information provided by the Senior Analyst are integral to provincial, zone-level operational and business planning, strategic planning, program and system planning and evaluation, research, quality improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

Masters degree in health related field (e.g., epidemiology, biostatistics/data science, evaluation, community health sciences, etc.) with strong quantitative/analytical or evaluation focus. Minimum three (3) years' experience conducting complex data analysis in a health care setting. Minimum five (5) years' experience working with statistical (e.g., SAS, STATA, R, etc.) software as well as spreadsheets, databases and tools for querying, integrating, analyzing, interpreting, reporting and disseminating data.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in health care preferred. Knowledge of addiction and mental health and the broader health system; understanding of the client population served.
