The HR Shared Services organization is responsible for high-volume, transactional elements of HR such as payroll, benefits administration, and recruitment. Our teams serve more than 120,000 employees across Alberta. The Sr. Advisor, Pension & Benefits reports to the Manager, Pension & Benefits, and is recognized as a functional expert within HR Shared Services. The Sr. Advisor leads a team of pension assistants and advisors who are focused on providing timely, accurate plan administration and superior customer service. The Sr. Advisor resolves issues and provides guidance on a range of system, program, and process matters. In addition to leading a team, they provide support to colleagues and act as a liaison with external partners. The Sr. Advisor is responsible for developing and executing quality assurance processes and reports to ensure data integrity and accuracy. Travel may be occasionally required in this role. Please note that the location is negotiable between Edmonton (IBM Building) and Calgary (Southport Tower).

Required Qualifications:

A minimum of 7 years progressive pension and benefit experience in an organization of significant size and complexity. Capable of interpreting policies and plan documents to make decisions and recommendations. Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to assess team members and provide ongoing development. Strong analytical, problem solving, and issue resolution skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Prior experience with HR Information Systems, preferably PeopleSoft, is required. Ability to use Excel to collate data and create templates.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), Group Benefits Associate (GBA), or Retirement Plans Associate (RPA) certification desired. Experience administering flexible benefit and defined benefit pension plans. Expertise in project management, business process improvement, or quality assurance is an asset.
