Description:

Senior Advisor Safety and Compliance: Is accountable and responsible for leading Edmonton Zone’s FM&E Department in the development, implementation, and maintenance of compliance-related initiatives relative to government legislation, industry-recognized standards and organizational policy. This individual works autonomously and uses a high degree of resourcefulness and independent judgement in the execution of their duties. Is recognized as an expert in the field of workplace health and safety and has specialized skill in other core accountabilities. Core accountabilities include: Workplace Health and Safety, Infection Prevention & Control and Critical Maintenance Compliance. Is a trained and effective communicator and adept in establishing relationships and creating coalitions across department and program boundaries. Is accountable and responsible for leading, mentoring, and coaching departmental leaders in creating a culture of compliance with government and organizational requirements related to facility operations and maintenance. Is required to have expertise in and remain current in regulations, codes, standards, policies, and practices related to core programs, especially workplace health and safety. Has a portfolio of established business skills (business writing, gap analysis, process mapping, metrics, etc.) to aid in the development, execution, monitoring, and reporting of programs. Is flexible and adaptable to environmental diversities.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum essential qualifications include: A post-secondary degree or trade certification. A safety designation (NCSO, CRSP, CSO) or in progress with a commitment to complete. Five years of proven success in leading a team in the development, implementation, and auditing of a safety program. A valid 5th class Alberta driver’s license. Proficient in English.
