Respiratory Therapist III
Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the Operative Services management team and under the supervision of Anesthesia, the Respiratory Therapy III Clinical Practice Lead OR position provides advanced respiratory care and supports high‑quality services within the Stollery Operating Room. The role includes clinical expertise, mentorship, and collaboration to ensure safe care for pediatric surgical patients. Key Responsibilities Deliver advanced airway and ventilation management for pediatric surgical patients. Perform ABG procurement and interpretation to guide clinical decision‑making. Maintain strong competency in anesthesia‑related equipment, including performing checks, troubleshooting issues, and initiating corrective action promptly in high‑pressure situations. Maintain certification and skill in: Arterial line insertion Pediatric intubation Autologous transfusion Administer blood products as required. Provide leadership, mentorship, and support in the orientation and training of new staff and students. Contribute to maintaining equipment readiness and supporting smooth daily workflow in the OR.

You will collaborate with managers and supervisors in the provision and access to internal and external continuing education and professional development programs including certifications and upgrades.

Active or eligible for registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA).
Additional Required Qualifications:Active or eligible registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA). Additional Required Qualifications Graduated from a recognized school of Respiratory Therapy and have successfully passed the National Respiratory Certification Exam as administered by the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapy (CSRT). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support-Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification is required. The incumbent must possess excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, have a positive attitude, and initiative and be highly motivated with the ability to work independently. The candidate must have 5 years of experience in a tertiary teaching hospital including proven mentorship and leadership skills. Must be available for a 6 month orientation program.
