Your Opportunity:

Work in adventurous Fort McMurray at the Northern Lights Regional Hospital which serves a very diverse community in Wood Buffalo. This is an opportunity for you to join the team in the Respiratory Department as a Respiratory Therapist. Your days will be full as you assess, treat, and educate patients, perform oxygen therapy, airway management, ventilator initiation, monitoring, and management. You will also be involved in Level III sleep studies, assist with Bronchoscopies, the provisions of outpatient procedures and maintain respiratory equipment. You will be required to use your communication, computer, and professional skills as you work collaboratively with the supportive multidisciplinary team. This role will provide you with a wide range of opportunities as you work throughout the hospital providing many supports to the patients. Located in beautiful Fort McMurray which resides on Treaty 8 territory, the largest treaty by area in the history of Canada and on the traditional lands of the Metis. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, Alberta Health Services currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Description:

As a Respiratory Therapist I, you will assess patients (clients, resident), develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans and monitor their progress. You will be responsible for various diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and interventions. You will collaborate with various clinical teams and groups to enhance clinical outcomes. You will provide training and assist health care providers in the use and care of respiratory equipment as well as educate patients and their families regarding diseases, medications, equipment and treatments.

Required Qualifications:

Active or eligible registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. Minimum of 1 year experience in a health care setting. You will also be required to take courses to be able to work on Connect Care, which is a computerized system that has been implemented into the facility.

Preferred Qualifications:

Current PALS certification.
