Required Qualifications:

Active or eligible registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Under general direction, the Respiratory Therapists: plan, implement and evaluate diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory services to assist Physicians/Nurse Practitioners in the diagnosis and management of patients with cardiopulmonary and related disorders. The incumbent actively participates in the education of patients, staff and students, provides technical support for all equipment related to the practice of Respiratory Therapy, and assists with general departmental/patient care functions. The Respiratory Therapist may provide their skill and expertise within other areas on site including (but not limited to): IV Therapy and the Ambulatory Care Clinics. Successful completion of the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) certification preferred. One year Respiratory Therapy clinical experience post-graduation, in an acute care setting. Current general duty Respiratory Therapy knowledge and skills, as demonstrated in an acute care facility. Preference will be given to those with Emergency experience. Current Emergency Department Respiratory Therapy knowledge. Current CPR certification required. Ability to use initiative, take responsibility, and self-organize in a team environment. Ability to work under pressure and handle competing priorities in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to work collaboratively on a multi-disciplinary patient care team, and interact positively with staff, physicians, patients and visitors. Proven ability to advocate effectively for patients. Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing. Successful candidates are responsible for providing proof of active registration with the College and Associate of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA), and to maintain registration throughout the employment relationship.
