Required Qualifications:

Active or eligible registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Must be a graduate from a recognized school of Respiratory Therapy and eligible to write, or have passed, the National Respiratory Certification Exam as administered by the Canadian Board for Respiratory Care (CBRC or the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapy (CSRT). Current basic life support (BLS-HCP) certification is required. One year Respiratory Therapy clinical experience post-graduation in an acute care setting in a tertiary teaching hospital and current Emergency Department Respiratory Therapy knowledge is required. Current advanced life support certification specific to the role is required. The incumbent must possess excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills, have a positive attitude, be highly motivated, and able to work in a team and independently. Current Medical Emergency team and Severe Illness team member preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

2-3 years critical care experience in a tertiary teaching hospital. Current CSRT membership. Acute/critical care experience. Orientation to the position’s major and minor clinical areas. Current charge experience, precepting students, developing quality initiatives and implementing practice change, and active committee participant. Certification: Advanced Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification, Arterial Line Insertion and Intubation.
