Your Opportunity:

The Research Assistant (RA) will support research activities within the Centre for the Advancement of Surgical Education and Simulation (CASES) under the guidance of the Principal Investigator (PI). Reporting to the Patient Care Manager, Edmonton Anesthesia and Surgery Centralized Programming, this role is suited to a highly organized and analytical individual committed to research excellence and data integrity. Responsibilities include supporting study design, research methodology development, and high-quality data collection, management, and analysis. The RA will play a key role in database architecture and maintenance, including developing, organizing, and managing datasets. Duties include data entry, validation, cleaning, and quality assurance to ensure accuracy and reliability. The RA will assist with monitoring data collection, identifying trends and gaps, conducting analyses, and preparing reports to inform evidence-based recommendations. Additional responsibilities include drafting study documents, tracking milestones, conducting literature reviews, supporting grant and report preparation, assisting with ethics and operational approvals, and liaising with stakeholders. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience with research methods and database management are essential. The successful candidate will thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced research environment.

Description:

As a Research I, you will be working with research teams which are generating and disseminating new knowledge that assists with advancing the understanding of health disciplines and various health and medical concerns. Working under the guidance of the principal investigator, you will be responsible for preparing and submitting research documents, collecting and reviewing a variety of information related to the study, and monitoring study compliance. You will also assist with the recruitment of study participants and initiate consenting of study and/or trial participants and may complete lab work to support research activities.

Required Qualifications:

Diploma or degree in a health or science related field. Registration with applicable professional association or college where required.

Additional Required Qualifications:

This position requires prolonged periods of sitting or standing while working at a computer. The role involves frequent repetitive tasks and motions, including data entry and keyboarding. Attention to detail and sustained concentration are required to manage and review research data accurately.
