Adult Community Services, Edmonton 108 St Clinic provides a wide range of addiction & mental health treatment to the residents of the City of Edmonton & areas. ACS program adheres to the Edmonton Zone Addiction & Mental Health Principles of Care providing quality, client focused, recovery based, concurrent capable, culturally appropriate care to those seeking supports/services within Addiction & Mental Health. Services are offered to clients and their families in the most appropriate manner, and include assessment, individual and group treatment and consultation. Interventions are primarily done in the clinic however dependent on the identified needs interventions may take place in the community, or in a client’s home. In the Registered Psychiatric Nurse / Registered Nurse (RPN/RN) position you will work within an interdisciplinary team to provide individual supportive counselling and case management to clients with a wide variety of clinical presentations. The RN/RPN engages clients in ongoing mental status assessment, risk assessment, supportive therapy and case management including medication administration, coverage and other financial assistance for clients with complex addiction and mental health needs. The RN/RPN works collaboratively with the client’s primary care provider to transition care back to their medical home once stabilized. They will have excellent knowledge of addiction & mental health assessment and diagnosis and be able to navigate within both the health system as well as with external stakeholders to ensure the coordination of services to best meet the client’s needs. The candidate will be able to multitask and effectively manage multiple priorities and demands with a large caseload. They will have a good working knowledge of legislation regarding mental health care including the Alberta Mental Health Act & Community Treatment Orders.

Description:

As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), you will provide leadership through a wide variety of nursing services to patients (clients, residents) for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, mental health and preventing mental illness, injury and disability. You will teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and take necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. You will provide safe, quality, patient- and family-centered care, while reflecting shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Psychiatric Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited psychiatric nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Full Registration with College of Registered Nurses of Alberta or College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention. Minimum of 3 years of relevant mental health experience, preferably in a community setting. Knowledge and experience with mental health assessment. Knowledge and experience treating individuals experiencing addiction (substance and/or process). This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Preferred Qualifications:

Extensive knowledge of the resources of Addiction and Mental Health and the community. A strong understanding of client resources in the community and knowledge of mental health legislation including Community Treatment Orders is an asset.
