Your Opportunity:

This Registered Psychiatric Nurse – EEPIC position is an exciting opportunity for an experienced addiction and mental health professional with a special interest in first episode psychosis to join the Edmonton Early Psychosis Intervention Clinic (EEPIC) within Young Adult Services, portfolio. As an experienced and skilled RN/RPN, the EEPIC RN/RPN works as member of an interdisciplinary team, providing community-based, recovery oriented assessment, biopsychosocial intervention, support, assertive engagement, follow-up and case management to individuals experiencing a first episode of psychosis and, most often, with concurrent disorders. The EEPIC RN/RPN must be able to assess needs, plan and provide interventions and evaluate outcomes autonomously and within their prescribed scope of practice. Clinical services are delivered in both office/clinic and off-site locations (including homes, community agencies, health care facilities, shelters, etc). These clients typically have complex needs and concerns, including concurrent disorders and life situations. Effective collaboration with families, other providers and a range of stakeholders is required. Formal consultation skills and abilities are required in liaison work with multiple agencies. Critical thinking skills, advance knowledge of mental illnesses and evidence-based/evidence-informed treatment (including risk assessment and crisis management), working knowledge of the identification and management of concurrent disorders and medical co-morbidities, and the principles of chronic disease management and recovery are required. The role of the RN/RPN will include case management, administering injections and metabolic monitoring.


As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), you will provide leadership through a wide variety of nursing services to patients (clients, residents) for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, mental health and preventing mental illness, injury and disability. You will teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and take necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care, while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Psychiatric nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Community addiction and mental health experience. Experience working with the Young Adult Population.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in an Early Psychosis Program.
