Your Opportunity:

Utilizing a centralized intake model you will perform mental health assessments, crisis intervention, walk-in single sessions and short-term follow-up treatment for clients with mental health, substance use and concurrent disorders. This Registered Psychiatric Nurse - Clinician position works out of the Stettler clinic within Central Zone. The staff member will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, within their respective Addiction & Mental Health clinics. They will be communicating and consulting with physicians/psychiatrists, community stakeholders and other members of the interdisciplinary team on client care issues, resources and discharge planning. Providing client advocacy services with other agencies, services and service providers. Assisting clients to access appropriate services in the community.

Description:

As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), you will provide leadership through a wide variety of nursing services to patients (clients, residents) for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, mental health and preventing mental illness, injury and disability. You will teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and take necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care, while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Psychiatric nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Training in crisis intervention & assessment. Courses/training/certification relevant to addictions/mental health. Minimum of 3-5 years mental health experience in comprehensive mental health assessment. Knowledge and experience in brief therapies, single session.
