Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Psychiatric nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

Excellent assessment and communications skills. Demonstrated knowledge of the application of the Mental Health Act. Knowledge of AHS Addiction & Mental Health Principles of Care Edmonton Zone and related program policy, procedures and guidelines. I.E Suicide Risk Assessment & Management Policy & Procedure, Mental Health Safety Precautions Policy, Mental Health Observation Policy & Levels Procedure. Demonstrated knowledge of the assessment and management of co-morbid medical disorders. Demonstrated knowledge of key components of a comprehensive addiction and mental health assessment. Knowledge of risk assessment and management, including knowledge of trauma informed care and alternatives to seclusion and restraint, and associated risks. Knowledge and practice of safe and secure environment for clients/families/teams by listening, discussing, exploring, clarifying and acting on their concerns, needs and priorities. Demonstrated knowledge and skill related to crisis intervention and conflict resolution. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (or successful completion as part of clinical orientation) To ensure your skills and qualifications are considered please attach a resume and cover letter with your application.

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum two years of recent (within last 5 years) in-patient mental health nursing experience. Demonstrated leadership, superior problem solving, critical thinking skills and strong team building skills. Interpersonal and de-escalation skills. Ability to handle multiple competing priorities while working in a constantly dynamic environment. Knowledge of community resources. Experience with Connect Care preferred.
